Terms & Conditions

Effective date: August 6, 2026
Last updated: August 6, 2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of www.ftljj.com (the “Site”) and your interactions with Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu (“FTLJJ,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) through the Site, including submitting inquiries and booking introductory lessons.

By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

These Terms cover the website. Participation in classes is governed separately by the liability waiver, membership agreement, and academy rules you sign before training. If those documents conflict with these Terms, the signed documents control for matters relating to training and membership.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to enter into an agreement with us or to submit a form on your own behalf. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must submit information, book on your behalf, and accept these Terms for you. By submitting information about a minor, you represent that you are that minor’s parent or legal guardian and have authority to act for them.

2. Health, Safety, and Assumption of Risk

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, martial arts, and physical conditioning are strenuous physical activities that carry an inherent risk of injury, including serious injury. Risks include but are not limited to strains, sprains, bruises, joint and muscle injuries, fractures, concussions, and, in rare cases, catastrophic injury.

You are responsible for determining whether you or your child is physically able to participate. Consult a physician before beginning any new exercise or martial arts program. You agree to disclose to us any medical condition, injury, allergy, or limitation that could affect safe participation, and to update us if that changes.

No one may train until a liability waiver and assumption of risk agreement has been signed by the participant, or by a parent or legal guardian for a participant under 18.

3. Website Content Is Informational Only

Content on the Site — including program descriptions, technique discussion, blog articles, and FAQ answers — is provided for general information. It is not medical, health, fitness, legal, or self-defense advice, and it is not a substitute for in-person instruction from a qualified instructor. Do not attempt techniques described on the Site without supervision.

Nothing on the Site guarantees any particular outcome. Results from training vary by individual and depend on effort, consistency, physical condition, and other factors. Statements about confidence, discipline, fitness, self-defense capability, or personal development describe goals of our programs, not promised results. Student testimonials and reviews reflect individual experiences and are not typical results.

4. Introductory Lessons and Promotional Offers

Introductory lessons, trials, and promotional offers are subject to availability, scheduling, and completion of a signed waiver, and are subject to any eligibility conditions stated at the time the offer is made. We may modify, limit, or discontinue any offer at any time.

5. Booking, Cancellations, and No-Shows

Appointments booked through the Site are requests until confirmed by us. Please give us as much advance notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule so we can offer the slot to someone else. Repeated no-shows may result in loss of booking privileges.

Class schedules, instructors, and program formats may change. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate changes, closures, and holiday schedules in advance.

6. Memberships and Billing

Membership terms — including rates, billing cadence, automatic renewal, minimum commitment periods, freeze or hold policies, late fees, refunds, and cancellation notice requirements — are set out in the membership agreement you sign at enrollment. That agreement governs your membership. In general:

  • Membership dues are billed on a recurring basis to the payment method on file and renew automatically until cancelled in accordance with the membership agreement.
  • Cancellation must be submitted in writing as described in the membership agreement.
  • Refunds, credits, and make-up classes are handled as provided in the membership agreement.
  • You are responsible for keeping your payment information current. Declined payments may result in suspension of access to classes until the balance is resolved.
  • We may adjust rates with advance notice to affected members.

7. Academy Conduct

Students, parents, and guests are expected to follow academy rules and instructor direction at all times, including hygiene standards, uniform requirements, mat etiquette, and safe training practices. We may suspend or terminate participation for conduct that endangers others, disrupts classes, or violates academy rules — including harassment, discrimination, intoxication, or unsafe training.

8. Communications Consent

When you submit your contact information, you consent to be contacted by phone, email, and text message about your inquiry, booking, or membership. Marketing messages require separate opt-in, and consent to marketing messages is not a condition of purchasing any service. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out of texts or use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.

Calls to and from the academy may be recorded or monitored for quality and training purposes where permitted by law. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your information.

9. Acceptable Use of the Site

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
  • Submit false, misleading, or another person’s information without authorization.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers, or any connected system.
  • Introduce malware, or interfere with the operation or security of the Site.
  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content or contact information from the Site.
  • Use the Site’s content to train machine learning or artificial intelligence systems without our written permission.
  • Reproduce, republish, or distribute Site content for commercial purposes without our written permission.

10. Intellectual Property

The Site and its contents — including text, graphics, logos, photographs, video, curriculum descriptions, and page design — are owned by FTLJJ or its licensors and are protected by United States copyright and trademark law. The Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu name and logo are our trademarks and may not be used without written permission.

You may view and print Site content for personal, non-commercial use. All other rights are reserved.

Third-party names and marks appearing on the Site belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only.

11. Reviews, Testimonials, and Submitted Content

If you submit a review, testimonial, photo, video, or other content to us or about us, you grant FTLJJ a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use, reproduce, and display that content in our marketing and on the Site, with attribution as submitted. You represent that you own or have the right to grant this license and that the content does not infringe anyone’s rights.

12. Third-Party Services and Links

The Site links to and integrates with third-party services, including scheduling, payment, analytics, and social media platforms. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that information on the Site is accurate, complete, or current.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Florida law, FTLJJ and its owners, instructors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of the Site — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Site will not exceed one hundred dollars (US $100.00).

Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, and this section does not apply to claims relating to physical participation in classes, which are governed by your signed waiver and membership agreement.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FTLJJ and its owners, instructors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

16. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Broward County, Florida, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at info@ftljj.com and make a good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. The “Last updated” date reflects the current version. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.

18. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and FTLJJ regarding the Site.
